Having been founded in Jamaica in 1959, Chris Blackwell, Graeme Goodall, and Leslie Kong, there are artists of mixed genres signed to the label (former artists such as The Cranberries and Bob Marley, current artists such as Nicki Minaj, McBusted and Ariana Grande). However, there are also some that fall under a similar genre to my artist.

The label has been based in the UK since 1962. As of February 2014, three Island label brands exist in the the world: Island UK, Island US and Island Australia.
While I have looked briefly at other small labels such as Parlophone and Red House Records, I ahve decided to use Island Records as my chosen label due tot he fact that some artists are of the genre closest to mine and those who I am the most familiar with, therefore making it easier to research more into the label. This logo will then be featured on my ancillary texts and I am going to look into the copyright information that ISland Records puts on their artists CD/casing,
